Description

“While in Atlanta, I’d been reminded of the Olympic Park Bomber, Eric Rudolph. He’s of course a despicable character, but there was something strangely attractive about his life as a fugitive. He spent five years hiding out, mostly in the woods. Something about this story evoked, for me, the romantic notion of escape. Crusoe and Huck Finn come to mind. So, on a whim, I visited the area where Rudolph hid out. [This picture] was taken behind a Save-O-Lot store in Murphy, NC where Rudolph was arrested.” —Alec Soth
